This 1946 MG TC has a superb history having first been assigned to the Chief Inspector of the Lancashire Police Constabulary. It has even featured in a book on the subject of MG police cars titled MG's on Patrol by Andrea Geen. We also have on file a letter from Lancashire Constabulary with an extract from their records confirming that this car was part of their fleet. What better provenance can you ask for!

The car itself has just emerged from a total restoration and as the photographs will demonstrate it is is superb condition. There is a long list of works that have been carried out including :

Chassis blasted, primed and painted

New road springs front and rear

Complete renewal of the brake system

New stainless steel exhaust

Metal panels sandblasted, primed and painted

Rechrome of all parts in need of refurbishment

New wiring loom

Complete interior re-trim at a cost of nearly £3,000

New hood and side screens

New tyres and tubes

All instruments professionally rebuilt

Engine re-built which includes a re-bore with new sleeves, crankshaft reground and new bearings and the cylinder head was overhauled.

Steering box overhauled with new track rod ends

The car presents exceptionally well and the cockpit is particularly pleasing with its fresh red leather and stained and lacquered dashboard which really go well together. The car has a new hood and all new wet weather gear including a full complement of sidescreens.

The engine fires on the button and quickly settles into a nice idle and the car goes through the gears without issue. The original colour scheme just adds to the character of the car and we think this is one of the best colour combinations with the red leather.

Within the history file, apart from the documentation relating to the police there is also a plethora of invoices relating to the recent restoration.
