Description
We are selling on behalf of our client a 1949 Triumph Roadster 2000 which was the car featured in the book Classic Cars, The World’s Greatest Automobiles, a copy of which will accompany the car. This car benefits from a TR3 specification engine with twin SU carburettors giving it an extra 30bhp over the standard engine. This really helps the car to keep up with modern traffic and makes for a very enjoyable driving experience, not to mention a lovely exhaust note. The car sports a floor change four speed gear box which is very beneficial for long distance motoring, especially on motorways when higher speeds are required.
Mechanically the car appears to be well sorted having been treated to an engine rebuild in 2002 for which invoices are held on file. The car drives well, has good oil pressure and does not smoke. The brakes are also working well.
The overall condition of the body is good although there are imperfections which can be improved. The paint is a deep black which sets off well against the chrome work which remains in excellent condition. The car looks very imposing with the large radiator grill which is set off perfectly with the chrome speed nymph mascot.
The hood has been replaced in the past and remains in very good condition. The cabin is a nice place to be with the leather bench seat in good order and the dashboard is also in very good condition. The two dickey seats means there is space for a further two occupants and these seats can be lowered to provide additional luggage space if need be.
The history file contains many invoices relating to the upkeep of the car during recent years. The car comes with a copy of the book Classic Cars The World’s Greatest Automobiles in which it features along with a service instruction manual, a technical handbook and a driver’s instruction book. Overall this is a car that presents well and is a lot of fun to drive whilst providing scope for its new owner to use and improve over time.
