Description
This rather special Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Coupe has been treated to the most extensive restoration you are likely to find. The car has been completely stripped to the bare shell and rebuilt from scratch using the best materials and parts available. The car has also been upgraded to make it perfectly usable as a daily car should you wish. Useful upgrades such as a custom made air conditioning system have been installed along with a host of upgrades to make the car a better driving experience including power steering, a five speed gearbox (supplied by E-Type Fabs Ltd), a full AP Racing braking system and also a Rob Beere 'Fast Road' handling package giving you adjustable dampers, uprated torsion bars and front roll bar and bushes. The list of works carried out is endless and most importantly is fully documented both in terms of invoices, but also a full photographic record of everything that has been done. This car doesn't come with a history file, it comes with a history filing cabinet!
The major body restoration was undertaken by Heritage Classics and they stripped the body back to bare metal, implemented repairs or replaced panels where needed, rust proofed and then finished to as new standard. This also included a new front frame and the car was then painted to concours standard in Lapis Metallic Blue. All exterior chrome trim was either replaced or re-chromed to a very high standard which involved a process of copper, nickle and finally double chrome. All exterior rubber trim was replaced. All door and body mechanisms were either rebuilt or replaced.
The interior was totally restored with all new door cards, panels and seats trimmed in Connolly leather with Wilton carpets. The dashboard was trimmed in veneer whilst all gauges and dials were rebuilt in Magnolia and recalibrated to as new condition. The headlining is resplendent in Alcantara suede fabric. The car is also fitted with a top of the range Becker Mexico radio/player which also incorporates a navigation system.
The engine has been fully rebuilt by a Jaguar specialist and this included modifying the 3.8 cylinder head for high compression and fitting the latest rear crankshaft seal. The car is also fitted with triple Weber DCOE carburettors. Everthing has either been refurbished or replaced including an E Type Fabs five speed gearbox and a new clutch. The car is also fitted with a high torque starter and a Dynalite Dynamo Alternator.
The running gear was completely stripped and rebuilt with all new bearings. All rubber bushes were replaced with Neoprene race bushing. The driveshaft was also completely rebuilt as well as the rear axle and differential. A Rob Beere 'Fast Road' handling package is fitted along with the AP Racing braking system and AP stainless steel brake lines, all of which makes this an incredibly fun and drivable car.
The cockpit in this car really says it all. The car has been fitted out to an extremely high standard and with all of the upgrades, this is an E-type fit for everyday driving or long touring trips. When did you last come across an E-Type with its own bespoke air conditioning system. This car has had a huge amount of money lavished on it, some £170,000 in total and it shows in the finish whether it be the paint, interior or mechanics.
The history file is full of invoices relating to the rebuild. A separate bank account was set up purely for the restoration so every element of expenditure is accounted for. There is an original log book for the car and history prior to the rebuild. A disc with a large set of photographs detailing all aspects of the restoration is also included.
. You will struggle to find a better example at this price and with everything done this car is ready for many years of happy motoring. The restoration was completed in 2010 and yet the car has only completed 2,685 miles since then and remains in near concours condition.
