Description
The Austin Seven Swallow was first launched in 1928 at the Motor Show. Arguably this is the first Jaguar given that it was styled and built by William Lyons' Swallow Sidecar and Coachbuilding Company. The series 1 cars were produced from 1928 through to October 1930 when the series 2 car arrived.
This car has been in our collection for the last two years. It is a largely original car which has been looked after well by its previous custodians.
The interior is in good shape with an original headlining that has worn relatively well. The rear seats are original and in very good condition whilst the front seat squab has been replaced with leather but matches exceptionally well.
In terms of the engine, the previous owner rebuilt this in 2000 with a re-bore and new sleeves for the cylinders, the valves and big ends were also done; the car runs well.
The Swallows are becoming increasingly rare and perhaps one or two come up for sale each year and we do not expect this one to hang around for very long.
