Description
We have been asked by a local client to sell this VW Type 25/T3 Camper Van which has been the subject of major restoration work over the last two years with a number of upgrades and a refit to make it reliable and very much ready for long distance camping trips. The work has been extensive and the total bill excluding the cost of the van has come to a little under £40k. The engine was upgraded to a newly rebuilt 2.1 litre water cooled unit supplied by the VW Engine Company who also fitted the engine along with the renewal of brakes, clutch, a new stainless steel exhaust and other work which came to a total cost of just under £9,000. The van was subject to some body refurbishment where necessary and the primary goal was to build a van that can be used and consequently the paint finish will not win any shows, but it is presentable. There are a few areas of minor bubbling which would be easy to address in the future.
The most fetching feature of this van is the interior where no expense has been spared in fitting a complete new interior. This has included Bentley stitch type leather seats and door cards along with a full refit of the back of the van with wheat coloured carpet and headlining. The appliances are all new and the work included :
New floor insulated with vinyl cover.
12v electric system
Mains hook up
12v leisure battery
Mains leisure battery charger
Control panel
Internal mains socket x2
Lighting system
Outside waste outlet
Water storage
Cream gloss worktop
Glass topped sink and matching 2x burner hob and chrome mixer tap.
Electrically pumped water supply
RCD Breaker
Rock and Roll bed fully upholstered with Bentley stitch tan green stitching.
Gas regulator
Gas fitting
Fridge
A good number of cupboards plus storage space at the rear and above the front cab.
Roof vent with electric fan
LED worktop lights
The total cost of the above work to make this camper's interior a very special place to be was £14,352.
To add to the driving experience electric power steering has been fitted at a cost of £1,134. The van starts on the button and runs beautifully as you would expect of a brand new engine. The gearbox works as it should and moves through the gears without issue. The van also benefits from superb Porsche style wheels.
The history file has a full complement of invoices detailing the extensive work that has been carried out and they total £38,500. The van also comes with a small tent and potentially also a good sized awning/tent.
The current MOT expires on the 6th September and a fresh MOT will be placed on the van at the time of sale.
If you are seeking a camper that has had all of the major work done this one certainly ticks the boxes. It was restored by the current custodian with a view to keeping it for many years to come and is only being sold due to ill health. Please call for further details and to arrange a viewing.
