1981 MGB Roadster – Limited Edition Model
We are selling on behalf of our client a very nice MGB Roadster LE model. Known as the Limited Edition models these cars are relatively rare with just 480 LE roadsters being built during the last months before the factory was closed. These cars differ from the standard cars with a special deep spoiler on the front, cast alloy wheels and the distinctive bronze metallic paint finish.
The car we are presenting is very original indeed with no signs of any welding repairs to the usual problem areas of the floor pans or chassis which remain in very good condition. The interior is also in superb condition with no rips or tears to the orange and black deck chair striped seats. The PVC hood was replaced in 2003 and remains in very good condition. Mechanically the car appears to be well sorted and has been looked after throughout its life which is confirmed by the extensive history file which comes with the car. A reconditioned head was fitted in 2003 and a new overdrive unit was fitted in 2009. The engine runs well and cleanly and has a confirmed mileage of just over 72300 miles which is backed up by MOT certificates dating back to 1985. The records show that this car was the 10th of the LE Roadsters to roll off the production line.
The car also comes with a tonneau and the MGB Drive’s Handbook and has almost 12 months of MOT which expires in July 2016. The car has had limited use during the last five years having covered around 1500 miles during this time. This is a very nice original example of what is an increasingly rare car and with prices beginning to strengthen during the last couple of years we believe this car represents excellent value.
